The Pursuit of an Unknown Ape
(coming soon)
Unusually polite, and possibly imaginary, a ten-foot-tall ape-like creature visits Frank Bishop in the African jungle during a 1964 bird expedition and saves him from cannibals.
Manipulated by his uncle into joining the animal’s pursuit through snake-infested forests, and nearly shot, drowned, and boiled in the process, Frank confronts duplicitous colleagues, and a mercurial uncle who seems increasingly sinister.
After discovering his uncle’s plans to smuggle the ape to America for a mysterious client, Frank learns something essential about the animal’s nature that may help him save himself—and the last of a singular species.

Reviews
“The Pursuit of an Unknown Ape is a remarkable book: part Heart of Darkness and part Green Hills of Africa, with an occasional dry wit reminiscent of Nabokov. You can read it as a compelling adventure story, but then you’d miss the layers of social implications underneath—the thoughtful exploration of how the elimination of a species impacts life on our planet. However you choose to read it, it’s highly recommended.”
